Hawkeye is a proprietary data viewer and video reduction software developed by the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI) to analyse driving safety data and sync data modules.

Purpose. It allows researchers to visually assess, process, and manage synced driving data, vehicle telemetry, and video recordings from naturalistic driving studies.

Functionality. Users perform “data reduction” — identifying specific driving events, behaviours, or road conditions from large data archives.

Application. It is heavily utilised in large-scale transportation projects, such as the SHRP 2 Naturalistic Driving Study (NDS) dataset analysis.
